Vertical Machining Center It is a highly automated, multi-functional CNC machine tool with a tool magazine and automatic tool changer. Two common types are introduced below:
Vertical: Refers to a machining center where the spindle is in a vertical position. Its structure is mainly a fixed column. The worktable is rectangular and does not have indexing or rotating functions. It is suitable for processing discs, sleeves, and plates. It typically has three linear motion coordinates. A rotary worktable that rotates along the horizontal axis can be installed on the worktable to process spiral parts.
Vertical Machining Center Easy to install, operate, observe processing conditions, debug programs, and is versatile. However, due to the limitations of the column height and tool changer, excessively tall parts cannot be processed. When machining cavities or concave contours, chips are not easily discharged. In severe cases, this will damage the tools, damage the machined surface, and affect smooth machining.
Horizontal: A horizontal machining center refers to a machining center with a horizontal spindle. It usually has an automatic indexing rotary table. It typically has 3 to 5 motion coordinates. A common type is three linear motion coordinates plus one rotary coordinate. After installing the workpiece once, the remaining four surfaces except the mounting surface and top surface are processed. Most suitable for adding box parts. Compared to Vertical Machining Center In contrast, horizontal machining centers are easier to remove chips during processing, which is beneficial for machining, but the structure is complex. The price is higher.
